Bullying Sucks - a little retort that warmed my heart

As the mother of a 9 year old girl, who was once a 9 year old girl and who has ALWAYS struggled with an unfortunate "slow metabolism" and healthy "love of food" (that's why you read my blog, right), I need to share this video.

Whether you or your child has or had acne, braces,  husky jeans, weird hair, a different idea of love, darker skin, label-less clothes or anything that made them different, we all share one thing - cruelty hurts, for a lifetime.

Hate is a learned behavior. Children know nothing of differences until we TEACH them to cast a downward eye on one another because of OUR prejudices and fears. It all comes down to us.

Crosby, Stills and Nash, a band I've listened to with my (wonderful, moral, accepting, supportive, smart, cool) parents, since my days in a bassinet said it best,  "Teach your children well". It's really that simple and it's the most important thing any one of us can ever do.

And sometimes that comes down to manning up, taking a stand we might not have when WE were awkward kids and calling out the bully from the strong place that grown ups stand. 'Cuz Momma bear can get some nasty if she has to.

Sing it sister.
